Motorola has announced the upcoming launch of its new budget smartphone, the Edge 60, scheduled for June 10 in India. This model will extend the company’s affordable Edge series, joining the Edge 60 Stylus and Edge 60 Pro in its lineup.

The Edge 60 features a 6.7-inch Quad Curved pOLED display with 1.5K resolution. The screen supports HDR10+ and covers 100% of the DCI-P3 color spectrum, promising vivid visuals. The device is designed to withstand tough conditions, boasting both IP68 and IP69 ratings. This means it can survive being submerged in water up to 1.5 meters deep and resist exposure to cold and hot water jets from any direction.

Design-wise, teaser images from Motorola suggest the Edge 60 will closely resemble earlier models in the Edge 60 series. It will sport a vegan leather back panel and a square-shaped camera module.

According to industry insider Abhishek Yadav, the phone is expected to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7400 processor, an upgrade from last year’s Dimensity 7300 chipset found in several mid-range phones like the CMF Phone 1 and Lava Agni 3. The Edge 60 could come with UFS 2.2 storage technology and LPDDR4x RAM, enhancing data transfer speeds and multitasking efficiency.

Running on Motorola’s customized UI based on Android 15, the device promises three years of operating system updates and four years of security patches, highlighting Motorola’s commitment to software longevity.

On the camera front, the Edge 60 is likely to house a 50MP Sony LYT700C main sensor equipped with optical image stabilization (OIS). It may also include a 50MP ultra-wide lens offering 3x optical zoom. For selfies and video calls, the front camera is rumored to feature another 50MP sensor.

Battery capacity is expected to be 5,500mAh, supporting wired fast charging up to 68W. Details on wireless charging capabilities remain unclear at this stage.

With these specifications, Motorola aims to reinforce its presence in the budget smartphone segment in India. The Edge 60’s launch on June 10 will provide Indian consumers with another option combining advanced display technology, durable design, and powerful camera features in an affordable package.
